Tourism in Malta
Malta is a popular tourist destination and attracts more then 1.2mln tourists every year.
The sun and the sandy beaches are not the only factor attracting the tourists to visit the
beautiful island, the islands’ rich historical and cultural heritage is among the main factor.
The history of Malta dates back to 3,500 B.C. The island was captured by different
civilizations and nations, thus leaving a big footstep over the cultural heritage.
Although its small size, Malta offers variety of attractions: historical and arts museums,
local crafts and arts markets, historical sites, beaches, various tourist oriented activities
such as diving, sailing, tracking, horse riding, and others. Typical products are also
integrated into the local cuisine.
